In recent years, especially since Chile began hosting the Dakar Rally, there has been a demand from, mainly men over 40yrs of age, coming to Chile and hiring powerful off-road motorbikes to participate in guided motorbike self-drive tours. Such tours cover the northern desert sectors or the southern areas of Patagonia and often combining a trip between Chile and Argentina.
The drive routes pass through areas of outstanding natural scenery; include the equipment such as the bike itself, support crew, accommodations and food.
