Whale Watching Patagonia Chile
In southern Chile, in the Patagonian region near to Punta Arenas is a Marine Park called “Parque Marino Francisco Coloane” . In this area (as well as outside it) Humpback whales come to feed from early December through to April. To date over 150 different whales have been identified by markings on their tail fins.
The whale-watching excursions operate out from Punta Arenas as a full day option in a zodiac dinghy in and out; or in a larger, but slower boat for a 3 days and 2 nights itinerary, or 3 nights and 4 days itinerary. The navigational route passes by the very point that is the southern-most point of continental South America.
The overnight options include accommodation inside dome-shaped tents with raised bed platforms on the isolated Island Carlos III in the heart of this magical Patagonian region. Among the sights are also glaciers that come down from the mountains into the sea and other beautiful marine and bird life.
Weather permitting, for those with very little time, but who have the money, this excursion can also be arranged by helicopter in and out.
Other options include kayak, in a different area, before entering the marine park as part of the overall itinerary.
If you are in the area and have the time, this is a truly exceptional opportunity to get up close to one of natures gentle giants in a totally natural environment.
Please ask us how we can accommodate you.
