Located on the lake-side slopes of the Villarrica Volcano, Ski Pucon Hotel Monteverde offers a small bed and breakfast hotel; spacious, good quality self-catering cabins, and modern self-catering apartments.
Apart from the lovely views down to the lake, Monteverde is an ideal place for those wishing to create their own meals when back from a day at the Pucon ski centre.
About Ski Pucon Hotel Monteverde
Monteverde started with a couple of Scandinavian-style and quality cabins back in the early 1990’s and has grown to offer many more cabins, a small bed and breakfast hotel and a modern apartment building. All placed in such a way whereby there is a lot of space in-between each facility.
In addition, there is a games room, an outdoor hot tub and adjacent sauna and great views down to the lake.
There is also an outdoor pool, but this would not be in use during the ski season.
The actual entrance to Monteverde is on the right side of the road about 5km prior to arriving at Pucon village, off the main road between Villarrica to Pucon, 50mt past a small bridge (about 3mts across!) called Riscos. The Monteverde welcome car park is about 100mt up the steep driveway just off the main Route199.
At Monteverde there are three categories of accommodation.
Fully furnished, self-catering cabins.
Self-catering apartments.
Bed and Breakfast Hotel.
Accommodation Details
Cabins (Cabañas)
These are like small, private houses. Two are completely independent, and the others are built independent, but with one above another. Depending on the type of cabin, capacity ranges from between 2 to 8 people. The larger cabins have two bathrooms, one being en-suite to the master bedroom.
Each comes with a small kitchenette, dining table and living room, fully furnished to a cosy and comfortable level. Perhaps, though, the best features are the corner windows on the master bedrooms and the spacious decks. The view down to the lake from the master bedrooms and from the decks, which also come with a barbecue unit, is superb.
Apartments
The building housing the apartments is like a very large ski chalet, for those who have been skiing in the Alps. The moment you walk into the main lobby area one is greeted with the feeling that you are, indeed, in the Alps, Germany or Scandinavia due to the space, stone and natural wood mix.
The apartments are located on three floors, each offering spacious bedrooms and small kitchenette areas. Effectively, the apartments are like being in a hotel, but with self-catering facilities.
There are very small, chair-width balconies from the higher placed apartments, but the two on the ground floor have larger terrace space.
The view to the lake, although still nice, is less than from the cabins.
The Hotel
The Monteverde hotel is a small (only four rooms) hotel, more like a house, that has a common breakfast room, and living room area, under the rooms. From the three rooms facing the lake there is a nice view of the lake.
The feeling one gets from the hotel is that it is a very cosy and warm, country-style house.
