Puerto Varas can be used a a logistics requirement only (for example one night) or to enjoy the area you should consider a minimum of 3 nights. We can arrange all-inclusive or part-inclusive itineraries. We can arrange your itinerary as a standalone or form part of your larger travel itinerary to Chile (Argentine and or Peru).

Puerto Varas (996km south of Santiago) is a lake-side village beside Lake Llanquihue, located almost half way between Frutillar and Puerto Montt (which is 17km from Puerto Varas). It is a more active place than Frutillar with unimpeded views directly to Osorno Volcano on the other side of the lake. The village has more of a Colorado Rockies Mountain style to it than anything typically Chilean, comprising a number of small, boutique-style stores and a few fishing shops and many wooded buildings as well as some modern hotels and a casino.

Similar to Pucón, Puerto Varas is a good base from where to enjoy many of the outdoor activities such as rafting, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. There are also a number of excursions such as to the powerful Petrohue Water Falls, the National Park Vicente Perez Rosales access to Chiloe Island and the start and end points for the lake crossing to Argentina.

The nearest airport is Puerto Montt, which is about a 2hr flight from Santiago and the drive from Puerto Montt airport is 30 minutes. We will include airport transfers in any itinerary we create for you.

If driving from Pucón the drive time is about 5hrs or so.
