ZAPALLAR

Zapallar (Pacific Coast)

2 Nights / 3 Days

Operated: All year – but best between September to end of April
Based upon 2-People (for more people please just let us know)

We can arrange a stay at Zapallar pre or post the rest of your South-American travel itinerary and we will include the transfer in and out as well as a nice boutique hotel. We suggest a minimum of 2 nights, but 3 or more would be better in order to relax properly.

Zapallar is 181km north-east of Santiago by road and 75km north of Vina del Mar. We tried to keep this place a secret, but it has now, unfortunately, been “discovered”. It comprises a very small bay with sandy beach, a simple village and two beach side restaurants – one is known for its fish menu and the other for a more general menu. The fish one is called “Chiringuito’s” situated right next to the sea with views to the fishing boats and back to Zapallar beach. Unfortunately, due to commercial greed the owner has made the big mistake of modernizing it and this has resulted in a loss of much of the charm and magic it once had. It is, however, firmly ensconced on the “must go to” restaurants by the rich and famous and also now quite expensive. There are still the simple wooden tables, parasols, and the old fishing boat forming the bar. The hills in Zapallar that back up from the beach are wooded and interspersed with large houses, owned by wealthy Chileans as weekend and summer retreats. On a sunny day it is “World Class”.

Day 1

Private transfer from arrival to Santiago airport or from your hotel in Santiago (2.5hrs).
Check-in to our partner boutique hotel.
Relax, enjoy tea or a cocktail (own cost)
Dinner (own cost)

Night 1

Hotel room with sea view, matrimonial or twin-beds.

Day 2

Breakfast.
Optional relax-by-the pool or stroll down through the pine wood to the coastal path and wander in either direction admiring the Pacific Ocean. If you are fortunate you may spot sea otters and dolphins in the bay. If you take your towel and swimming gear you can enjoy the small, cove-shaped, sandy beach (but sea temperature is on the very cold side and the large wave that crashes onto the beach can be a problem if you are not careful!). Maybe continue to walk along the beach to the small, but trendy sea-food, fisherman’s restaurant called “Chiringuitos” (reservation advised) right beside the sea, and whilst sipping on a glass of Sauvignon Blanc enjoy the view back to Zapallar beach.

After lunch, wander back up to the hotel for evening cocktail and dinner (own cost).

Night 2

Hotel room with sea view, matrimonial or twin-beds.

Day 3

Private transfer to your Santiago hotel or to the airport (2.5hrs) for flight connection to rest of your itinerary.
