The Hotel Poincenot is a small, modern boutique style hotel located in the centre of El Chalten village from where there is easy access to the trails heads each end of the village.
The hotel has a welcoming exterior with is natural stone cladding and on the inside is a mix of up-market hostel with its spacious and high-ceilinged lobby mixed with boutique style.
However, the bedrooms all look good, with good space, well decorated and modern bathrooms.
The name of the hotel “Poincenot”, like other hotels in El Chalten village, is taken from one of the mountain summits, which, in turn was named after the French climber Jacques Poincenot. He, unfortunately, died during the first known attempt in 1951, to reach the summit of Mount Fitz Roy, when crossing the River Fitz Roy.
