Accommodation along the Carretera Austral, Patagonia, Chile

Introduction

The Carretera Austral runs for 1,241km (give or take a few km) from Puerto Montt in the north, to Villa O’Higgins in the south. Therefore, in order to explore it in full, or part, will require stopping off at some of the small villages on the way.

All the hotels in our accommodation sectors we work with, but should there be a hotel that you want and this is not in our site please let us know in the enquiry process and we will include that hotel in your itinerary.

Types of Accommodation

Typically, considering the Patagonian terrain and scenery, most hotels are in the lodge style, apart from in the established cities such as Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas and Coyhaique.

Lodges

We can offer lodges located in areas totally “cut off” from the usual noise and stress of modern life and surrounded by nature and the Patagonian rain forest. Some of these properties are at the high-end, luxury level, others are not at this level, but are charming and cosy, perhaps more rustic.

All-Inclusive Programs

We can also offer all-inclusive programs whereby you land at the airport and get transported to the relevant hotel, in some cases you can even arrive by helicopter, and then you enjoy a 3, 4 or longer night stay that includes great food, wines and excursions.

Where Can I stay on the Carretera Austral?

You can stay at any number of hotels and lodges located at the villages and cities along the entire route. However, there are also some options located in the more remote parts away from settlements.

Here at ExperienceChile.Org we will make sure you are at the right place for your requirements and budget.

Hotel Partners

We will summarise below the places where you can stop and the hotel partners who we work with. Why do we have accommodation partners? The basic reality is that we, like you, want to know which hotels are “decent”, and that they offer comfortable accommodation in terms of rooms and facilities.

For us, hotel selection is a critical ingredient to the success of the enjoyment of your holiday. The reality is that hotels will publish only their “good side” as well as only very positive reviews. Often some reviews are not genuine, and photos can be deceiving. A hotel will also not mention if it happens to be close to a busy road, or an events centre is opposite and so on. In addition, they will not say if their rooms are small, poorly decorated, or in a bad state.

For these reasons we send staff to visit as many hotels as possible and, where possible we also stay overnight. From this real experience we are well placed to share with you, our potential client, our opinion of a particular hotel. Think of it as having your own hotel inspector checking up on the place where you may stay before you get there.

NOTE: You may well have a particular hotel, or lodge, that is not shown in our listings. If this is the case, PLEASE tell us what and where this hotel is and we will include it in your itinerary.
