Domos Frances

Introduction

Domos Frances are quite large and sturdy dome-shaped tents. The structures are metallic frames covered by plastic atop a wooden base. Inside each dome are bund beds in small, dorm-style configurations.

There is an en-suite, communal shower and WC unit for each domo.

  • Located about half way between Cuernos and the entrance to the French Valley (camp Italiano).

Introduction

These are small, A-shaped huts that accommodate up to three people but are usually occupied by two people. Each private cabin has two beds (three if three people are sharing the hut) with bedding.

At the entrance there is a small, outdoor deck that offers a private place to sit and take in the view.

There are communal shower rooms and WC a short walk away as well as a natural waterfall.

If you take your bathing suit there is also an outdoor communal hot tub. This is a great place to unwind after a hard days trekking.

  • Cabanas Cuernos (80m uphill from the refugio Cuernos).
  • These are small, A-framed cabins that can accommodate two people.
  • There is a WC and shower unit for the Cabana guests, but meals must be taken in dining room in the refugio Cuernos.

Introduction

Refugio Central is located almost beside the Torres del Paine Welcome Centre a few kms from the Laguna entrance into the Park. A shuttle service operates between the Laguna Amarga car park to the Welcome Centre. It is a busy, large refugio and at the trail head that runs up to Refugio Chileno (2.5hrs) and on to the Torres base (4.5hrs). If Chileno is full this is an alternative or as a place to rest after or before the trek.
